Love to Watch Movies? Here Are 7 Benefits of It!

Watching movies has many benefits, but how and when did movies begin? What is the history of movies and cinematography?

Cinematography has been around since the late 1800s, with many people receiving credit for different advancements that ultimately led to the big-screen motion pictures we enjoy today.

In 1888, French-born inventor Louis Le Prince shot several short films in Leeds, England. The following year he started to use a new invention, celluloid film, and, in 1890, he planned to show his work in New York City. However, while traveling to France, he disappeared, and his work remained unknown for decades.

Thomas Edison’s assistant, William Dickson, created the first motion-picture camera called a Kinetograph. The Kinetoscope, a device that could project moving images onto a screen, came in 1892. Edison started public film screenings in newly opened Kinetograph Parlors in 1894.

Louis and Auguste Lumière invented the Cinématographe, a camera, and projector, in 1895. Their projector could show 16 frames per second, showing audiences simple movement and action images. Their cameramen traveled worldwide, and a new industry took shape.

Silent films, with storylines and music, flourished between 1890 and 1927. The Golden Age of Hollywood in the 1930s and 1940s brought feature-length movies in color with synchronized sound. Ornate cinemas became a popular entertainment spot.

Today, we have 3D, Imax, and never-ending advancements in digital technology, special effects, and sound, with augmented reality and artificial intelligence (AI) around the corner.
