Everything You Need to Know Ahead of Apple WWDC 2023

After the Google developers conference, Apple WWDC 2023 is just around the corner. It’s arguably Apple’s biggest event, although some people might term the new iPhone release as the biggest. But this one is specifically dedicated to the developers who are directly or indirectly associated with Apple’s ecosystem. We’ve come across numerous leaks ahead of the WWDC as to what might be launched, and we’re definitely excited to see what Apple has to offer.

We expect Apple to announce its much-anticipated headset along with the bigger version of MacBook Air and possibly a new software iOS 17. Here is everything you need to know ahead of the WWDC 2023 including the broadcast information. Read on to find out.

WWDC 2023 broadcast information

The WWDC 2023 is set to begin on June 5 and end on June 9. It’s primarily an online event, although some developers, students, and other select individuals will be invited to attend the keynote and State of the Union presentation in-person in California. As always, some media personnel are also invited to cover the event for their respective publishing houses.

You can watch it live on YouTube, Apple TV, the Apple Developer app, and Apple.com. Since you’ll want to stream it in HD, your internet connection needs to be able to keep up as well. For that, we recommend using CenturyLink internet because it offers minimal lag, high speeds, and a large coverage area in the US.

What to expect

The rumor mill has been churning out a lot of information if we’re to believe that. Over the years, we’ve come to realize that these rumors are largely not dependable, so take this with a grain of salt. Here is what we expect from the upcoming WWDC 2023.

Apple Headset

The biggest highlight of this year’s event is undoubtedly the Apple Headset or the Reality Headset as some people are calling it. This will combine virtual reality, mixed reality, and augmented reality and provide its users with a full-fledged Metaverse experience. This headset is being released to rival Meta’s headset, and show off Apple’s technical prowess in an otherwise unexplored category for them.

According to CNET, there is no confirmation of the price. However, it could go as high as $3000 or more since Apple has been consistently raising its prices for a while now. This is steep considering that Meta Headset costs between $1000 and $1500, depending on which storage option you go with. Will it be able to justify its price tag and actually be twice as better as Meta’s headset? Only time will tell.

The headset is said to run on an all-new xrOS, Apple’s dedicated operating system for the simulated world. Bloomberg’s Gurman noted that Apple plans on integrating sports, workouts, gaming, and streaming into the new headset. This way the users will have a single device to do whatever they want.

MacBook Air 15

The regular lineup of MacBooks has always stuck with the 13-inch screen size, save for the premium Pro series. Although they’ve experimented with different screen sizes like the 11-inch MacBook Air, the 13-inch has been the size of choice for a while. That is set to change as we might see a bigger 15-inch sibling of the MacBook Air powered by the M2 chip. The M2 is a fantastic chip that’s more than enough for most users, but the bigger screen size will make its appeal wider.

Apple M-Series Mac Pro

Apple made the latest update to its Mac Pro series in 2019, and it’s also due for an upgrade. There have been multiple rumors about Apple working on a more powerful version of Mac Pro that will feature Apple’s silicon chips. However, there’s nothing concrete on the M-Series Mac Pro yet, and we await the WWDC to see if it is launched.

New Software

Reportedly, a new version of the Apple iOS is in the works and we might see a new software release in the upcoming conference. This will include iOS, iPadOS, WatchOS, and TVOS. Apple might enable third-party installations that are not downloaded from the App Store. They’ve long resisted the idea of sideloading apps like Android phones can, but we might see this change soon because of EU’s regulations.

Moreover, the new software could add some other features as well. This can include a new smart mode display that can also display information in a horizontal interface on the lock screen. We’ve also heard about a new mental health app that will be able to track your mood and emotions. This can be followed by some upgrades to the Wallet app, AirPlay, and SharePlay.

Conclusion

As you can see, the worldwide developer conference (WWDC) is going to be an exciting event this year. We expect significant upgrades to both the software and devices including the iOS. As we said earlier, this is still speculation at best, and you should take this with a grain of salt. The curtain is about to drop and we’ll be back with more in a bit.
